Portuguese artist LUS aka Paulo Coutinho, returns to Piston Recordings with New Around Here EP. This one follows his last effort, Glamourdaze EP. It was in the late 80’s, when Paulo heard some acid house, that his path was chosen. From that moment on he dedicated himself to house music. Since 2016 he has been churning out serious beats on various labels, being known for his deep house grooves.

Spread across four tracks, the EP opens with the title name, New Around Here. Fresh and upbeat, the groove is driven by striking chords, cool vocals and a tight drum section with an underlying sub level bass. Bright delivers a very cool, live-sounding vibe, with elements of several genres evident. Ultimately, the track is an infectious cut that will force you to move. Blurry Skies is up next, heralding in a wonderfully rich deep house groove. Trippy sequences and esoteric vocals combine to create an ethereal sequence as punchy beats and distinct chord stabs join in. Leaving rounds out the release and features a bright, vibrant and upbeat house groove. Flurries of percussions create a solid rhythm as cool, clubby vocals rain down. Smooth chords add depth alongside a rumbling bass for maximum effect. Top-notch stuff, not to be missed.
