Jaemus makes his debut on Piston Recordings with the superb 'Ezekiel’. Emerging as a prominent figure in the dance floors of Indianapolis and Chicago's underground scene in the late 1990s, Jaemus draws inspiration from the diverse world of underground warehouse DJs, poppers, lockers, and breakers in the Midwest and beyond. Delving into music production, he has been crafting golden-era hip-hop instrumentals since 2002, seamlessly blending hip-hop, downtempo, and drum 'n' bass for over 18 years. Despite his extensive experience, Jaemus felt a calling to explore and produce house music, a journey that led him to Seattle in the summer of 2022. During this time, he showcased his talents at renowned venues such as Monkey Loft, Timbre Room, and Club Mercury. Currently based in San Diego, he continues to shape the landscape of house and deep house production from the comfort of his residence.

We begin with the Original Mix which opens with a smooth Rhodes chord sequence that offers warmth and depth to the sound as dancey beats and rhythmic percussions lure us in. Cool vocals litter the sound, adding a fresh vibe while jazzy trumpets and striking pianos fill out the arrangement. Soulful, gospel-esque vocals uplift the groove beautifully making this an absolute must have.

Col Lawton returns to the label with a solid remix, something we’ve become accustomed to over the years. A prominent figure in the UK scene, Col is held in high regard by his peers as he continues to find motivation through a network of friends and colleagues. Always great to see him here. Col’s interpretation injects an energetic vibe to the sound with tougher drums and a highly infectious groovy bassline. Stabby chords and bright plucks are joined by sporadic one-shot vocals but the soulful element from the main vocal captures the moment brilliantly, drawing us in to enjoy the special sound. We also welcome BNinjas back to PR with an equally impressive remix. With an internationally acclaimed sound, he continues to bolster his solid reputation amongst his enthusiastic listeners. We’re always excited to hear his latest creations and we’ve no doubt we’ll be hearing more soon. On the remix here, BNinjas goes deeper with a sublime late-night vibe. Quirky percussions greet us on the intro before sharp hats and chunky beats take over. Warm chords lurk in the background as short vocals come through. On the break, the chords rise up to their full potential, creating a mesmerizing experience which is enhanced with a funky-ass bassline and a surreal strings arrangement.
