Miguel Palhares returns to Piston with the superb ‘I Need You EP’, which comes hot on the heels of his last effort here, a top-notch remix for Rich Sutcliffe’s ‘Neo’s Funk Machine’. Miguel's heart has been captivated by the allure of electronic music since the tender age of 19 when he embarked on his journey as a DJ. Portugal's finest clubs have felt the reverberating energy of his performances, as he effortlessly weaves together quality tunes, delivering an unparalleled sense of fun and vivacity to every party he graces. He has garnered a solid reputation for his versatility and the exquisite selection of tracks, earning him a well-deserved place on the roster of top labels since 2013. Piston Recordings has been fortunate to host his exceptional talent time and again, and we are delighted to have him back once more.

We begin the release with the title track, ‘I Need You’, which flourishes bright with a vibrant display of groovy sounds. Chunky beats and rhythmic percussions lay the foundation for mesmerizing chords and a deep, dancey bassline. Clubby vocals add an upbeat vibe to the groove which will definitely translate well on the dancefloor. ‘Creators House’ is next, ramping up the energy levels with a solid drum arrangement and plucky, 303 style bassline. Hypnotic notes draw us in as various notes fill out the spectrum. Tribalistic drums add flowing rhythms while on the break, warm chords and cool vocals come through before the main groove returns. Top-notch, a definite must have. We conclude the release with a superb tribute to the pioneers of house music with ‘This Is House’. Punchy 909 kicks and spritely hats are joined by shuffling percussions to form a smooth rhythmic flow. Iconic analogue basses are joined by infectious piano chords to deliver a nice retro vibe. A perfectly executed groove that will light up the dancefloor, no doubt.
